Bridal makeup tips and trends in 2018

At Elle Au Naturel we have twenty years experience in the bridal industry, particularly with wedding makeup in Berkshire and the surrounding areas.  When you’ve been working in an industry as long as us it is absolutely essential that we keep up with the latest trends in makeup so we don’t become stale and dated in our work. It is often our clients who dictate our style as our ethos is very much to do want our clients want and put our own spin on it when its required. If we understand the latest looks and trends out there in the wedding makeup world it means we can still capture the younger brides and give them the benefit of all our experience.

Interestingly I’ve seen a huge shift in the style of bridal makeup over the last year or so, with intense eyeliner and lashes being hugely popular among our brides. So maybe the completely natural look is going to take a back seat for a while.

On the bridal catwalks over the last few months the designers have gone for bold, red and berry lips with hints of gold and metallic tones on the eyelids. A strong lip can look incredible, particularly in the winter months, but it isn’t as easy to maintain during the day and we wouldn’t necessarily recommend it for a bride who doesn’t normally wear it. However it can give a huge boost of confidence and glamour. The one worn in the picture below was a long stay colour by Kat Von Dee, so it didn’t need touching up at all.

The preference on skin is still going to be glowing and natural, so a good hydrating primer such as Stila One Step Illuminate will give a subtle shimmer to your foundation, but ensuring it still holds.  The third picture below is a perfect example of a dewy finish, but still with natural coverage.
